Child care is the work that makes all other work possible.

We can build a new child care system in Oregon that works for parents, providers, and our kids.

Our vision is to build a universal, publicly-funded child care system in Oregon that is equitable, affordable, culturally-relevant, inclusive, developmentally appropriate, safe and community-led.

Meet Makayla

Makayla Towry is from Sweet Home, Oregon and a parent who relies on access to Employment Related Day Care (ERDC).

In order to achieve this vision, we must reimagine a system that values child care and the diverse professionals who provide care.

This new system must be developed by and for the providers and parents who know the most about child care, especially those who identify as Black, Indigenous, Latinx, Pacific Islander, and/or people of color.

Let’s redefine child care.

We need to redefine child care as necessary for joyful children, thriving families, and a strong economy. We need to dramatically increase government investment in child care and demonstrate to lawmakers that broad support exists for a universal public childcare system. And we need to motivate our elected officials to act.

“It is estimated that the Oregon economy experiences a $1.4B annual loss due to the infant and toddler child care crisis.”
